Shrink wrapping boats creates a waterproof barrier that stands up to the environment better than traditional canvas covers. Dr. Shrink offers a wide selection of shrink wrap material for variety of marine uses. 9mil varieties are ideal for most boat cover applications, but can also be used for temporary structures used in light construction projects or to wrap mid-sized machinery for transport or storage. Selecting a width: The rule of thumb is to have an additional 6" below the perimeter band to tuck up against the boat to hold shrink wrap materials in place. Many users select a width that corresponds to average length of their customer’s boats (including the extra to tuck under the perimeter band) so that they can cut the required beam length from the roll. For larger and longer vessels using the required beam to select the material width may be a better approach to reduce waste.
