RAYMARINE Evolution EV-200 Sail Autopilot without Drive Unit
Mfg # T70155
Model # 14842801
EV-200 Sail is designed for mid-sized sailboats with mechanical steering.
Type 1 mechanical linear drive (sold separately) provides powerful thrust, fast hardover times and quiet operation. Low backdrive force minimizes the drive’s effect on boat’s steering when the autopilot is in standby. The powerful electric motor is controlled by an electromagnetic fail-safe clutch, and uses a high-tensile belt drive and epicyclic gearbox for high performance and minimum current consumption.
Evolution Autopilots combine advanced aerospace guidance technology with Raymarine’s marine autopilot expertise to deliver a new level of accurate autopilot control. Evolution has no need of a setup compass swing or calibration, and does not need to be adjusted to the boat in which it is installed. This innovative breakthrough in autopilot intelligence uses Evolution AI™ control algorithms which enable Evolution autopilots to perceive their environment and instantly calculate and evolve steering commands to maximize performance. The result is precise and confident course keeping, regardless of vessel speed or sea conditions.
At the heart of the Evolution system is the ultra-compact, EV sensor core—a nine-axis heading sensor and full-function course computer. Around the same size as a typical marine GPS sensor, the EV sensor core can be bracket-mounted or flush-mounted horizontally, and can be installed above or below deck (it’s IPX6 water-resistant) as space and practicality dictate.
EV-1 uses SeaTalkng cabling for a single power and data connection to the SeaTalkng bus and the Actuator Control Unit (ACU) which connects to the same bus to provide power and signal to a Raymarine hydraulic or mechanical autopilot drive system.
Autopilot control is via the p70 control head. Setting-up an Evolution autopilot takes just 30 seconds; select the boat type—large power, small power, or sail; select the drive type—hydraulic, mechanical, or outboard; and choose the performance level—performance, cruise, or leisure, it is as easy as that.
NOTE1: When sizing an Evolution system for your boat, always take the fully laden displacement weight of your vessel into account, this is often 20% above the designed displacement.
NOTE2: Evolution Autopilots communicate via SeaTalkng. A SeaTalkng to NMEA Converter Kit (E22158) may be required to connect older Raymarine or non-Raymarine displays. Raymarine software version 1.21 is also a minimum requirement.
